iFly 747 v2

Here is where the coffee machine and Coke machine are kept. Please clean up after yourself and do not remove the magazines from this area. A good place to exchange thoughts with Operations personel and other pilots.

iFly 747 v2

Post by GTI1643 »

Any thoughts on using the iFly 747 v2? As is, its much better than the old PMDG 747 but so far they only released the passenger model. The freighter model should be out eventually and they will also be doing the 747-8.

What do you guys think about adding this to the fleet? Perhaps for Atlas Passenger flights?

I think most people will wait for the PMDG 747 v2 although I woud like to have a 747-8 version for FS9.
I don't have the computer for FSX yet so my choice would be for the Ifly version too.

Honestly, I would liken the iFly 747 to the current state of the PMDG777. Yes, it's that good. What makes the deal even better is that the price is much lower and they offer it for 3 Simulator versions. I can understand why some will wait for the new PMDG version, but there is only so much you can simulate in a 747-400 and iFly has it all in great detail. They've even added airline specific options.

The new Ifly 747v2 SP1A is WONDERFUL. They did a great job on the update.

I'll have to look into it. I know nothing about the model. As you know, we have a lot on our plate right now so I won't be able to get to it until a couple other things are done first. Keep reminding me about it though.

Will do. The IFly 747 puts the old PMDG 747 out to pasture...the only thing is that at the moment, only the passenger version of the 400series is available. Since Atlas has a few 400 series pax aircraft, it seems like the best alternative.

Here is a 3 part video review...it's got everything except circuit breakers..

I have downloaded the iFly 747 and used it on a couple of private flights. I found it very good and stable

I really tried it out with using other programs whilst it is flying and it never missed a beat. I had FSC, ASN, the GC Forums running with no trouble at all. When I went back to FSX and the 747 it was still trundeling along happily. The only thing it did a bit strange was,- if I went to spot view and back to virtual cockpit (I always use Virtual Cockpit when I fly), the panel was blank, however if I switched back to 2D cockpit and back to VC, it all came back.

I had so much trouble with the PMDG 747s, the moment I tried to do something else while they were flying, the whole computer locked up and everything had to be shut down and re-started. Even things like trying to get the weather at my destination on ASNext, it would lock everything down. I un- and re-installed them and it got worse, even would not start without jumping all over the place. The PMDG 747s are off my computer and never getting back on again. Like I took their 737s off years ago and use the iFly ones. The 747 did warn me when I installed them that they were for FSX with only SP1.

Their 777s are much better.

I contacted their forum and asked about the Cargo version. They would not give a time but said it is "in the process". I can't wait.

I fully agree with John as well and I would much appreciate it, if we could iFly 747 v2 in place!

Thank you!

Best regards,

For 747 PAX flights the iFly744 is the best on the market. PMDG's 747v1 doesn't match up at all. I too wish we can add this to the fleet for Atlas passenger flights.
