Maximum Hours Enforced.

Post by nwadc10 »

Realism is one of the core values of GC. Sure we don't take it to the extreme where some VA's require every flight to be dispatched by a real 121 dispatcher and flown online but to us that's unreasonable.

FAR Part 121 maximum hours, however, is one regulation that we expect all of our pilots to observe. What this means to you is that there is a cap on the amount of flying to can log in 7 days, 30 days, and 1 year. To check your status on each of these time periods go to the Roster page and click on your name. Your public profile will appear and on the left side of the page you will see a breakdown of your hours referenced to each period mentioned above.

This is something real world pilots deal with all the time and exceeding the maximum hours is a serious FAR violation. We will follow suit. On your first violation of exceeding the FAR maximum for 7 days, 30 days, or 1 year, you will receive a note from your RM stating that fact. That warning will remain in your personnel file for 1 year at which time it will drop off. A second violation within 1 year will result in deleting of PIREPs until the hours are in compliance with the regulations.

For clarification, you can exceed the maximum hours once per year without getting PIREPs deleted. If it happens again within 1 year from the date of the first violation PIREPs will then be deleted.

99% of our pilots don't get close to reaching the maximums so in reality this doesn't apply to you. While we appreciate the enthusiasm of the 1% who do exceed the maximums, it isn't fair to the others who do observe the time limits.
